Day 1 - Arrivals: a new adventure begins

Hi Team,

We hope you had a wonderful adventure at Schloss Loburg - it's such a beautiful environment, isn't it.

Do you remember how you felt on arrivals day? You met each other face-to-face for the first time - can you describe how this felt and what your hopes and expectations were? Use the comments section below.

We broke the ice, re-introduced you to the academy and course concept, structure and expectations. Then you were be required to finalise, amongst yourselves, the presentation running order - this could have been completed on the forum, but just in case holidays, etc, got in the way we put aside a little time to plan.

A very unique aspect of the academy is that your days will be structured very much like those experienced by undergraduates at university, along with language of the course - English. The temptation to speak German will, at times, be great, but we are confident you will have the academic discipline to stay focused and to communicate in our Lingua Franca. You'll have to as Janina and Nick always lose the ability to speak German during the month of August!

So what did our days look like?

This photo of last years course should give you a strong idea of what to expect... Perhaps one of you could make a table of of our course?

The days will be similar but what we investigate is entirely up to you!
In the run up to the Academy we use the Forum to communicate with your course leaders and peers.

This blog will be a chronicle of your journey and thus a magical memory of a wonderful summer of science, sport, music, drama, KüA's and friendship.

Yours in science,

Nick & Janina
